In the early hours of 21st December, 1914, with the India Corps under attack at Festubert, the 8th Hussars of the Ambala Cavalry brigade moved to Gorre where they dismounted and proceeded on foot towards Festubert.  Albert Robbins died from wounds on 23rd December 1914 and it is likely that he was wounded at this time. Some records show that he was part of the 13th Hussars of the Meerut Cavalry Brigade, 2nd Indian Cavalry Division, but this unit only arrived at Marseilles in France in mid-December, 1914 and then went to Orleans where they stayed for the rest of the year before heading north to the front.
